About
.
Call me ‘B’. My friends in the States know me as ‘Homer’. This is my blog and I hope you enjoy it.
I’m a 33 year old guy from Queensland, Australia. This blog takes off from 2009 so here is a brief history of the years before then.
Completed High School (didn’t really like School, but completed it anyway. Then started working for a builder in display homes selling houses off the plan. I absolutely loved this work. I still do. Moved to the Sunshine Coast for 3 years when I was 19. Then took a break form work and went sailing, first working on tourist boats in the Whitsunday Islands (very beautiful area), then sailed down the east Coast of Australia, competed in the 1997 Sydney to Hobart yacht race, in 1998 competed in the Tall Ships Race again from Sydney to Hobart. After that I moved to Great Keppel Island where I worked at the Beach Hut renting catamarans etc.
In June 98, I went to the USA and worked at a Summer Camp teaching kids how to water-ski. This was a blast and made heaps of really great friends. Did a road trip through the States after that before heading to the UK to visit friends I had met at Camp then back to the States.
I did return home for a few months, but I had caught the travel bug and it wasn’t long before I was back in the USA again. I worked another summer at Camp Sloane, this time I was the director of the water skiing program. My best mate John-boy came along as well. After camp we bought a car and did another road trip this time along the top of USA and Canada.
My sister lived in Idaho at the time so John-boy kept travelling and I lived with sis for a few months. I did a few short road trips to Vancouver as well as down the West Coast of USA. Loved Vegas and can’t wait to go back again. Also flew to Japan for work.
At the end of 1999, many of my friends were heading to Edinborough in Scotland for Hogmanay. (Hogmanay runs over the New Year period (which this year was also the turn of the century) and is the party to end all parties.). So I headed there and had a ball. Afterwards I travelled a bit through Europe to catch up with some more friends before returning to New York once again and a little bit more walkabout.
Returned home to Australia and spent to next few years working in a display home for a builder selling houses off the plan again. During this time, I built my home, sold it, a couple of other houses I just built and sold and finally my duplex which included the ultimate bachelor pad that I still live in now.
In 2003 did a Contiki trip to South Island to New Zealand with My best mate Stuart. Loved it, We went bungee jumping 3 times of one crazy one called Nevis which is off a cable car and 444ft high. It was 8 seconds down and I have no desire to ever try again. Also went river boarding, white water rafting and heaps of other fun stuff.
When I came back, I switched from selling new homes for builders to general real estate. I liked the flexibility this change gave me, in that I can get out and about more rather then sitting in a display home all day waiting for people to come to me.
At the beginning of 2007, my father was diagnosed with Cancer, so left real estate to help him with his business. He passed away in June 2007. This was a very tough time. I was close to my father as I am with all my family and it was something I guess you think will never happen. It does. The next year was spent with dealing with his business and wrapping it up. Something I didn’t enjoy and gave me a lot of stress. (My friends who know me well know that not too much phases me and I rarely get stressed – this year I was stressed).
In April 2008 I returned to selling general real estate. I swapped brokerages which has proven to be one of my best moves ever. I love the company I work for, have a great boss with lots of support. This year (2009) I have a renewed focus on improving my business and the support I am able to provide my customers, while at the same time improving my own systems to free up my time to have more of a life outside of work.
The above is a brief history of the past. This blog takes off from here.

About My Blog:
I want to increase the use of the web in my work as a real estate agent. I started this blog more to use as a learning tool for my other sites and to try new things out. So you could say this blog is a work in progress.
Along the way I will share with you some things I have been up to and I hope you enjoy reading about them. Please feel free to leave comments at the bottom of each post, but please keep them clean.
